The Joy within April meditation classes 2021
Hi everyone,
I haven’t sent an email in a while as home schooling has been top of the agenda in our house for the past few weeks. Easter holidays are here now with a much-earned break. Spending so much time with my daughter and her home schooling brought me back to my own childhood and how important breaks and having fun are. So, on St. Patrick’s Day (which was unseasonably warm this year) I headed down to our local river for a picnic and a paddle. Sitting on the mossy bank, feet dangling in the icy cold water with my face upturned to the uncluttered azure sky, I closed my eyes. What a feast for the senses!! As my attention settled it was drawn to the gentle touch of the warm Spring sun on my face. Then I allowed it to be pulled away by the icy grip the water on my feet. This all sat against the backdrop of the most delectable cacophony of sounds… the effervescent youthful rapids hopping and tripping over stones accompanied by the low hum of the river and a choir of birds.
Like back when we were children, this experience of pure delight didn’t have to come from a heightened heady event in order to feel like my day had been made and it can be that way for us again…if we are willing to remember and reconnect with that part of ourselves that knows how to be in the flow of fun.
You can begin this process by reminiscing on what was fun for you as a child. Think about what caused you to giggle in delight or wriggle in pleasure or burst into endless laughter that you couldn’t sit up straight no matter how much you wanted to. Try to spend a few moments with each memory, and really feel what it was like to be in those experiences — allowing that feeling of pure fun to wash over you. It lives, in you — that feeling. It can’t be bottled, manufactured, or sold. You just have to call it back up in order to experience it again.
It is with pure joy and delight that I am able to announce the return of our meditation classes next week For these classes we will be exploring a new way of living your life…much the same as starting with a blank canvas and filling in the details (Self, relationships, work/purpose and activities that bring you joy) until you create your own Masterpiece.
