Uncover your inner path

The whispers of your soul- May meditation classes 2021

Hi everyone,

I hope you are enjoying the easing of restrictions and the sense of liberation that comes with it. I managed to get to the sea on a few occasions for a very quick dip ,it was very cold but invigorating !! During the various lockdowns my mind slipped into that old pattern of feeling  stuck while my spirit or soul showed me ways to feel totally free. I couldn’t work in the same way which gave me the opportunity to explore the beautiful countryside and walks around where i live.

I grew up in the country and lived in a home where my father’s busy veterinary practice operated from. My childhood was a very happy one, filled with nursing sick animals and taking in every stray dog or cat, visiting farms with my dad and roaming the fields with my friend on long hot summer days. I choose a career in nursing, married the love of my life and 26 years ago we moved into our first ever home with our beautiful baby boy. The house was a new three bedroomed semi-detached houses in a small picturesque housing estate. The estate was built on a hill so the lawn at the back of the house was two tiered and separated by steps to facilitate the incline. A ten-foot wall separated us from the houses at the back which meant nobody could look into our house or garden which at the time seemed like a bonus. But as the years went by and we went on to have our second baby (a little girl) every time I stood at my sink in the kitchen and look out the window all I saw was this wall, it was stifling. I felt stuck both physically and emotionally and I didn’t know what was wrong with me. You see on the surface I appeared to have it all, a lovely home, two beautiful healthy children, a loving husband, a job, but on the inside, I felt anxious and unhappy. The wall was reflecting back to me that sense of being trapped . Then one day (while supervising my children as they played in a playground on a petting farm in the country we were visiting) I heard it… the blackbird!! Not only did it’s beautiful song fill the air heralding the summer and a promise of brighter days to come, it spoke to my very soul

‘That’s it!! This is what I’m missing !!’, I thought to myself. The song transported me back to the time in my life when I felt free and untethered, where the fields, trees and nature were my playground.  It was in that moment I knew I had to make big changes to reclaim my life, starting with a move back to the countryside and begin a journey of self-discovery, which I can only say (along with the expected highs and lows of life) has been nothing short of magical. I left my career in nursing to become a spiritual teacher and now have the privilege to   help others to find their inner path or soul’s calling…their blackbird so to speak. That is why when it came to choosing the logo for my brand it had to be the blackbird, to be that constant reminder.

We all feel stuck in our lives at some point or other and when we do it’s important to take stock of what is going on and find out if there is something we are doing or not doing that is keeping us there. Sometimes the situation is out of our control, and we need to look within to find the patience required to wait with equanimity until things move forward again. Many times, though, we can find the source of our stagnation in our own hearts and minds. Sometimes we are clinging to old ideas about reality and we need to make adjustments that will bring us back in tune with life, so we can flow again. Sometimes we find that fear of change is what’s keeping us stuck, and we can resolve to find ways of facing that fear.

In all this, be kind to yourself and remember that we all get stuck sometimes. Think of it as a part of your process, a necessary step on your journey, rather than as a problem that shouldn’t be happening. This can help to keep your frustration at bay and give you the space you need to take a deep breath and really figure out what’s going on.

One way of finding this space is through the practice of meditation. While the mind is calmed and the emotions are stilled then and only then can we hear the whisper of our soul. The very reason we are here to have this experience we call life is to fulfil the purpose of our soul and follow it’s inner path. The next time you feel stuck rather than getting upset or frustrated view it as a prompt from your inner path (your soul) that you may have taken the wrong turn and take the necessary steps to rectify this to return to flow.

Our meditation classes will return next week. For these classes we will be going back to the very basics, our energy system, the chakras. Starting with the Root we will be exploring ways to balance this energy centre, particularly in these uncertain times
